The drug Aminalon belongs to the group of psychostimulants and nootropic drugs.
The drug Aminalon contains 250 mg of the active substance - gamma-aminobutyric acid.
Indications for use
The drug Aminalon is indicated for adults and children over 6 years of age for the treatment of:
conditions after cerebral circulatory disorders and traumatic brain injuries;
the psycho-organic syndrome;
atherosclerotic, hypertensive and alcoholic encephalopathy;
cerebral palsy and the consequences of birth trauma in children as part of complex therapy;
mental retardation in children;
kinetoses (sea and air sickness).
The method of action of the drug Aminalon
Aminalon is a nootropic drug that improves the metabolism of brain tissues, promotes the utilization of glucose by the brain and the removal of toxic metabolic products from it. It increases the productivity of thinking, improves memory, has a moderate psychostimulating effect, has a beneficial effect on the restoration of movement and speech after a violation of cerebral circulation. It has a mild hypotensive effect, reduces initially elevated blood pressure and the severity of symptoms caused by hypertension (dizziness, insomnia), slightly reduces the heart rate. It has a moderate antihypoxic and anticonvulsant effect. In patients with diabetes mellitus, it reduces the glucose content, with a normal blood glucose content, it has the opposite effect.
Contraindications
Do not take the drug Aminalon:
if you are allergic to the active substance or any other components of this drug listed in the "Composition" section;
if you have acute renal failure;
if you are in the first trimester of pregnancy or you are breastfeeding
if you have children under 6 years of age.
Special instructions and precautions
The drug Aminalon contains sucrose. If you are intolerant of certain sugars, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
If you have unstable blood pressure, special care should be taken when using the drug Aminalon at the beginning of treatment, due to the possibility of significant fluctuations in blood pressure.
Children
This drug is indicated for children from 6 years of age.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you are pregnant, or are planning a pregnancy, consult your doctor or a pharmacy employee before using the drug.
During pregnancy and lactation, the safety and efficacy of the drug Aminalon have not been established. It is not recommended to take the drug Aminalon in the first trimester of pregnancy and during breastfeeding. Taking the drug in the second and third trimester of pregnancy is possible only after examination and consultation with the attending physician.
Driving vehicles and working with mechanisms
When taking the drug Aminalon, care must be taken when driving vehicles and engaging in other potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions.
Taking the drug

Recommended dose
For adults, the drug Aminalon is prescribed 0.5-1.25 g (2-5 tablets) 3 times a day.
In the treatment of kinetoses, the recommended dose is 0.5 g (2 tablets) 3 times a day for 3-4 days preceding the trip.
The maximum daily dose for adults is 1.5-3 g (6-12 tablets).
Use in children
Children over 7 years of age are prescribed orally 0.5-1.25 g (2-5 tablets) 3 times a day.
The daily dose for children aged 6 years is 2.0-3.0 g (8-12 tablets) per day in 3 doses, for children aged 7 and over it is 1.5-3 g (6-12 tablets).
For the treatment of kinetoses, it is recommended to take 0.25 g (1 tablet) 3 times a day
during the 3-4 days preceding the trip.
Route and (or) method of administration
The drug Aminalon is taken orally before meals.
Duration of therapy
The course of treatment is at least 2-3 weeks (preferably 2-4 months). If necessary, the courses are repeated 1-2 times a year.
Overdose
If you have taken the drug Aminalon more than you should, contact your doctor or a pharmacy employee immediately.
Symptoms
Symptoms of intoxication occur only with simultaneous administration of extremely high doses of Aminolone (more than 10-20 g) and are characterized by nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, fever, headache, drowsiness and bradycardia.
Treatment
There is no specific antidote. Measures of assistance include the withdrawal of the drug, gastric lavage with activated charcoal, the appointment of enveloping drugs (diosmectitis, starch mucus), supportive and symptomatic therapy aimed at eliminating the disorders that have arisen.
Possible adverse reactions
Like all medicines, the drug Aminalon can cause undesirable reactions, but they do not occur in everyone.
It is possible to develop an allergic reaction, nausea, vomiting, dyspeptic phenomena, an increase in body temperature, a feeling of heat, insomnia, instability of blood pressure.
