Aminalon is a nootropic medication containing gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) — a natural inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. It is designed to improve brain metabolism, enhance memory and concentration, and support recovery of cognitive functions after various brain injuries or circulatory disorders.
The preparation helps to normalize brain activity, improve glucose utilization, and facilitate the elimination of toxic metabolic by-products from brain tissue. Aminalon contributes to the restoration of intellectual and motor functions, and it may also produce a mild psychostimulant and antihypoxic effect.
Aminalon is used for:
Route of administration: Oral, preferably before meals.
Adults:
3–3.75 g per day (12–15 tablets of 250 mg), divided into 3 doses.
Children:
For motion sickness:
Adults — 500 mg (2 tablets) three times daily for 3–4 days.
Children over 5 years — 250 mg (1 tablet) three times daily.
Treatment duration:
Usually from 2–3 weeks up to 2–4 months, depending on clinical condition and doctor’s recommendation.
Most patients tolerate Aminalon well.
