Product description

Brilique by AstraZeneca contains ticagrelor, a direct-acting, reversibly binding oral antiplatelet agent of the cyclopentyltriazolopyrimidine class. Unlike clopidogrel, it acts without requiring metabolic activation.

The product is a prescription-only medicine used in cardiology practice as part of dual antiplatelet therapy.

Indications

• acute coronary syndrome (unstable angina, myocardial infarction with or without ST elevation)
• prevention of atherothrombotic events in adults, as part of therapy prescribed by a physician

Dosage and administration

The usual starting dose is 180 mg (two 90 mg tablets) once, followed by 90 mg twice daily in combination with low-dose aspirin. The duration of therapy is determined by the physician.

• moderate to severe hepatic impairment
