Indication

Used for the treatment of dry eye syndrome (keratoconjunctival epithelium damage) by improving mucin production and stabilizing the tear film.

Mechanism of action
Rebamipide increases the production of mucins (both membrane-associated and secreted) in the corneal and conjunctival epithelium. This enhanced mucin layer helps stabilize the tear film and protect the ocular surface.

Typical usage / instructions

• Instill 1 drop into each affected eye 4 times daily (or as prescribed) in many studies.
• As a suspension, the bottle should be gently shaken (if required) to disperse contents before instillation.
  
• If using additional eye drops, wait at least 5 minutes before instilling the next drop.
  

Contraindications / Warnings

• Hypersensitivity to Rebamipide or any excipients.
• Use only under supervision of eye-care specialist.
• Safety in pregnancy, breastfeeding and pediatric use may be limited — consult physician.
• Since this is a topical ophthalmic suspension, avoid contamination of the bottle tip and do not touch the eye with the dropper.

Adverse reactions (observed)

The most commonly reported side effects include bitter taste, eye irritation, itching of the eye, and blurred vision. More rarely, lacrimal duct obstruction, eye discharge or other ocular surface discomforts may occur.
