Samska is a drug with the active ingredient Tolvaptan, which reduces the level of the hormone that regulates the balance of water and salt (sodium) in the body. High levels of this hormone can cause an imbalance that leads to low sodium levels and fluid retention.
Samska is used to treat hyponatremia (low sodium levels in the blood) in people with heart failure and a certain hormonal imbalance.
Samska improves urine outflow without causing the body to lose too much sodium when urinating.
This guide to the use of the drug contains information about the trademark Samsca - tolvaptan.
