Product: Sterile bacteriostatic water for injection, multidose vial 30 ml
Preservative: Benzyl alcohol 0.9%
Purpose: Dilution (reconstitution) of lyophilized peptides
Manufacturer: BioYgen, Hong Kong
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative. Unlike plain sterile water, it can be re-punctured multiple times: the preservative prevents bacterial growth inside the vial after the first use. That is why it is the standard diluent for lyophilized peptide vials (BPC-157, TB-500, Ipamorelin, GHK-Cu) used across several doses.
Important: bacteriostatic water is intended for drug dilution only - it is not an IV flush solution and not for use in newborns (benzyl alcohol toxicity risk).
Standard peptide reconstitution protocol:
Dilution example: 10 mg peptide + 2 ml water = 5,000 mcg per ml (dose 250 mcg = 0.05 ml = 5 units on a U100 insulin syringe).
Store at +2...+25 C, protected from light. After first puncture, the vial remains suitable for dilution during its shelf life (benzyl alcohol keeps it bacteriostatic). Discard if the solution becomes cloudy.
Plain sterile water has no preservative: after the first puncture the vial can harbor bacteria between uses. Bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) prevents bacterial growth, so one vial can be used for multiple dilutions.
It depends on your protocol: 2 ml gives a concentrated solution (higher mcg per ml), 10 ml gives a dilute one. The standard range for 5-10 mg peptide vials is 2-4 ml; for 100 mg vials (GHK-Cu) - 5-10 ml.
No. Each peptide vial should get its own dilution. Never mix reconstituted peptides in the same vial.
Unopened: until the expiry date on the label. Opened: the benzyl alcohol preservative keeps it bacteriostatic through the labeled shelf life, but discard the vial if the solution becomes cloudy.
Not for newborns or premature infants (benzyl alcohol risk). Peptide products reconstituted with it are not for persons under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding women.
