Description


Levofloxacin Aurovitas coated tablets contain the active ingredient Levofloxacin. Levofloxacin is a quinolone antibiotic. It has a bactericidal effect on bacteria that cause infections in the body.


Composition


The active substance of the drug is Levofloxacin (Levofloxacinum).


Each coated tablet contains 500 mg of levofloxacin (Levofloxacinum) in the form of semi-aqueous levofloxacin.


Excipients: tablet core: sodium croscarmellose, microcrystalline cellulose (PH-101), hypromellose 5 cP, microcrystalline cellulose (PH-102), magnesium stearate. Tablet shell: hypromellose 6 cP, titanium dioxide (E 171), macrogol 400, talc, iron oxide yellow (E 172), iron oxide red (E 172).


Dosage


This medicine should always be used exactly according to the doctor's recommendations. If in doubt, contact your doctor or pharmacist.


The dosage is determined by the doctor individually for the patient.


Levofloxacin Aurovitas in the form of coated tablets should be administered orally. Tablets should be swallowed whole, they can be taken with meals or between meals. Tablets can be divided into equal doses.


Action


Levofloxacin Aurovitas has an antibacterial effect. The bactericidal effect is provided by Levofloxacin, which belongs to the antibiotics of the fluoroquinolone group.


Indications


Indications for the use of Levofloxacin Aurovita: community-acquired pneumonia; acute pyelonephritis and complicated urinary tract infections; chronic bacterial prostatitis; pulmonary form of anthrax: prevention of infections after contact with bacteria and treatment.


Contraindications


The drug should not be used in the case of: hypersensitivity to the active substance or any component of the drug; epilepsy; tendinitis associated with the use of fluoroquinolones; children and adolescents during the growth period; pregnant women; lactating women.


Side effects


Like any medicine, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone has them.


Side effects that occur frequently (may occur in no more than 1 patient out of 10): sleep problems; headache, dizziness; nausea, vomiting and diarrhea; increased activity of certain liver enzymes in the blood.

Warnings and precautions


Consult your doctor if you are 60 years and older; taking corticosteroids, sometimes called steroids; ever had a history of seizures (epileptic seizure); had a history of brain damage caused by stroke or other brain injury; have kidney problems; have a disorder called "deficiency of glucose-6-dehydrogenase he ever had mental health problems; he has ever had heart problems in history: be careful when using this medication if the patient since birth or his family had discovered a prolonged QT interval (seen at ECG, i.e. in the study of the electrical activity of the heart), patients have disorders of electrolytes in the blood (especially low level of potassium or magnesium in the blood), the patient is slow heart rhythm (called "bradycardia",” the work of the patient's heart is broken (heart failure), the patient has a history of heart attack (myocardial infarction), the patient is a woman or elderly person or taking other medications that cause unusual changes in ECG records; if the patient had discovered the expansion of the large blood vessel (aortic aneurysm or large peripheral artery); if the patient had a history of aortic dissection (a tear in the aortic wall); if in the anamnesis there were cases of aortic aneurysm or aortic dissection, other risk factors or predisposing condition (e.g., connective tissue disease such as Marfan syndrome or vascular form of the syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos, or blood vessel disease, such as Takayasu's arteritis, giant cell arteritis, Behcet's disease,hypertension or atherosclerosis confirmed); diabetes; ever had liver problems in the past; suffering from myasthenia gravis; in case of sudden severe pain in the abdomen, back or chest, immediately contact the emergency Department; the patient has ever had a severe skin rash or skin peeling, blistering and / or mouth sores after using levofloxacin.


The drug should be stored in a place that is invisible and inaccessible to children.


Use of other medicines


Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medications you are currently or recently taking, as well as the medications you plan to take, including those that are available without a prescription.


Information is especially important if you use: corticosteroids used for inflammation; warfarin used for blood thinning; theophylline used for breathing problems; nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) used for pain and inflammation (acetylsalicylic acid, Ibuprofen, fenbufen, Ketoprofen, indomethacin); cyclosporine used after organ transplantation; medications that affect the heart rate (antiarrhythmic drugs such as quinidine, hydroquinidine, disopyramide, Sotalol, dofetilide, ibutilide and amiodarone); tricyclic antidepressants such as amitriptyline and imipramine); antipsychotic drugs; "macrolide" antibiotics such as Erythromycin, Azithromycin and Clarithromycin); probenecid used in gout; Cimetidine, used to treat peptic ulcer and heartburn.


Pregnancy and breast-feeding

The use of the drug in children and adolescents


Levofloxacin Aurovitas is contraindicated for use in children and adolescents.
