Quviviq is a prescription medicine containing daridorexant, a dual orexin receptor antagonist used for the treatment of insomnia in adults. By blocking orexin receptors, daridorexant reduces excessive wakefulness and helps support sleep.
Quviviq is available in two strengths:
Both strengths are officially available in Japan and Europe.
Quviviq is indicated for the treatment of insomnia in adults when sleep difficulties have been present for at least 3 months and have a considerable impact on daytime functioning.
It may help patients:
Daridorexant blocks the OX1R and OX2R orexin receptors. Orexin is involved in maintaining wakefulness. By reducing orexin signalling, Quviviq helps decrease excessive wakefulness and supports the natural transition to sleep.
The recommended adult dose is 50 mg once per night, taken in the evening within 30 minutes before going to bed. Depending on the patient's individual condition, 25 mg once per night may be prescribed.
The maximum daily dose is 50 mg. Patients should have at least 7 hours available for sleep after taking the medicine.
Taking Quviviq with or soon after a meal may delay its effect.
