Product Details

Revolade 25 MG (Eltrombopag, Revolade)

Description
Revolade 25 mg tablet is used to treat low platelet counts due to chronic immune (idiopathic) thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) or chronic hepatitis C viral infection (HCV). It is also used to treat severe aplastic anemia.
The Revolade 25 mg tablet is a thrombopoietin agonist. It works by stimulating the formation of new platelets in the blood. The function of platelets is to help reduce bleeding.

One tablet contains elthrombopag 25 mg or 50 mg (in the form of elthrombopag olamine 31.9 mg and 63.8 mg, respectively).

Auxiliary substances:

Mannitol (E421), microcrystalline cellulose, povidone ISO, sodium carboxymethyl starch (type A), magnesium stearate, Opadray® white YS-1-7706- G (tablets with a dosage of 25 mg), Opadray® brown 03B26716 (tablets with a dosage of 50 mg).

Opadray® white YS-1-7706- G contains 8,365 mg of hypromellose, 4.375 mg of titanium dioxide (E171, CI 77891), 1.12 mg of macrogola400 and 0.14 mg of polysorbate 80.

Opadray® brown 03B26716 contains 8.75 mg of hypromellose, 3.09 mg of titanium dioxide (E171, CI 77891), 0.875 mg of macrogol 400, 0.99 mg of iron oxide yellow (E172, CI 77492) and 0.30 mg of iron oxide red (E172, CI 77491).

Mechanism of action

Thrombopoietin (TRO) is the main cytokine involved in the regulation of megakaryopoiesis and platelet production; it is an endogenous ligand for the thrombopoietin receptor (TPO-R). Eltrombopag interacts with the transmembrane domain of the human TPO-R receptor and initiates a cascade of signal transmission, similar (but not identical) to endogenous thrombopoietin (TRO), which is accompanied by induction of proliferation and differentiation of megakaryocytes from bone marrow progenitor cells.
