Raltegravir 400 mg (Isentress)

Description:
Isentress 400 mg contains Raltegravir, a potent HIV-1 integrase strand transfer inhibitor (INSTI) developed by Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD). It is prescribed in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults, adolescents, and children over 4 weeks of age.

Raltegravir works by blocking the HIV integrase enzyme, preventing the viral DNA from integrating into the host cell’s genetic material. This stops the virus from replicating and helps reduce the viral load in the body, supporting immune system recovery.

Dosage Form:

• Strength: 400 mg film-coated tablets
• Packaging: Bottle of 60 tablets

Indications:

• Treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and pediatric patients (≥4 weeks old)
• Suitable for both treatment-naive and treatment-experienced patients

Dosage & Administration:

• Recommended dose: 400 mg twice daily
• Administer orally, with or without food
• Must be used in combination with other antiretroviral medications

Possible Side Effects:

• Headache or dizziness
• Insomnia, fatigue
• Nausea, diarrhea
• Mild increase in liver enzymes
