Xeloda 500 mg (Capecitabine) is an oral anticancer medication belonging to the class of antimetabolites. It is widely used for the treatment of various solid tumors.

Indications

Xeloda is prescribed for the treatment of:

• breast cancer
• colorectal cancer
• gastric cancer
• metastatic or locally advanced tumors sensitive to fluoropyrimidines

Mechanism of Action

Capecitabine is a prodrug of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). After oral administration, it is converted into the active compound that inhibits cancer cell division and induces tumor cell death.

Dosage Form

• Pack: 120 film-coated tablets
• Strength: 500 mg

Administration

Xeloda tablets are taken orally, usually twice daily after meals.
The dose is determined individually by the treating physician based on body surface area and treatment protocol.

Contraindications

• hypersensitivity to capecitabine or fluorouracil
• severe kidney or liver impairment
• pregnancy and breastfeeding
• DPD enzyme deficiency
