Petinimid 250 mg (Ethosuximide) is an antiepileptic medication used primarily for the treatment of absence seizures (“petit mal” seizures). It reduces abnormal neuronal activity in the brain and helps control the frequency of epileptic episodes.
Ethosuximide decreases neuronal hyperexcitability in the thalamus, suppressing abnormal electrical activity. This makes it one of the most effective medications for controlling absence seizures.
The dosage is determined by a healthcare professional. Usually taken orally with water on a daily basis.
